This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled through this website by Lochside Lane Equestrian Ltd., operating publicly as Lochside Lane Training & Sales (“Lochside Lane,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It is intended to support our obligations under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (“BC PIPA”) and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).

Information we collect

Information you choose to provide

When you use the farm inquiry form, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, inquiry type, selected horse, and the message you submit. If you contact us another way, we receive the information included in that communication.

Please do not send payment-card details, government identification, medical records, veterinary records, or other sensitive information through the website. The printable credit-card authorization form must be brought to the farm in person and must never be emailed or uploaded.

Basic technical and administrative information

Our hosting and security providers may process ordinary technical records such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page and full request URL, referring page, request time, and security or diagnostic events. A link may contain campaign parameters or fbclid that appear in hosting records. With optional advertising permission and measurement enabled, we retain only the campaign source, medium, campaign, content and term in this browser session and attach them to an inquiry to understand which campaign led to it. Please do not put personal information in campaign links.

The limited campaign fields are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term. We do not attach arbitrary URL parameters or the inquiry message to Meta events.

Authorized site administrators may also have invite, login, role, and session records needed to manage horse and event content.

Analytics, advertising, and cookies

Optional advertising measurement is disabled unless the farm configures it. For visitors identified by our host as being in Canada, browser advertising measurement is on after the cookie notice is displayed, unless you have declined or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. You can turn it off immediately using Manage cookies. Elsewhere, or when location is unknown, optional tracking requires your acceptance. Closing the notice keeps your current setting; it does not reverse a decline. Use Privacy choices here or in the footer to see its current status, decline, or change your choice. Your preference is kept locally for up to 180 days. If your browser prevents preference storage, optional tracking stays off. We use only the host’s country classification to choose this notice; we do not save a separate location record. Declining or withdrawing does not prevent browsing or inquiries; withdrawal stops subsequent measurement and clears farm-accessible Meta advertising cookies, but cannot recall information already sent.

When allowed, Meta Pixel measures eligible page visits, clicks to start a service booking request and successful inquiries. It may receive the page URL, browser/network information and its advertising identifiers, which Meta may use for advertising personalization and measurement. Optional server-side Conversions API measurement additionally requires explicit advertising acceptance, even in Canada. If enabled, it sends a successful-inquiry event and a SHA-256 hashed reply email for matching; hashing does not make that information anonymous. Browser and server use the same event identifier to avoid counting an inquiry twice. We do not send inquiry messages, names, phone numbers, riding/medical details or horse descriptions to Meta. These choices are separate from permission to reply to your inquiry. See Meta’s Privacy Policy. No Google Analytics or other analytics provider is installed.

Essential authentication storage may be used when an invited administrator signs in. An embedded Google map can receive ordinary technical information when a page containing it loads. YouTube video preview images may also be requested before you press play, allowing that image provider to receive ordinary technical information such as your IP address. The privacy-enhanced YouTube player itself is requested only after you choose to play a video. These external services have their own privacy practices, explained in Google's Privacy Policy.

Why and how we use information

We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate, including to:

• answer horse, sales, lease, training, lesson, event, facility, and general inquiries;
• arrange requested calls, visits, tours, trials, or other follow-up;
• maintain a useful record of communications and services;
• operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website;
• administer invited website-editor accounts; and
• meet reasonable business, insurance, accounting, dispute-resolution, and legal obligations.

The inquiry form asks for your express acknowledgment before submission. That acknowledgment permits us to use the submitted information to respond to and administer the inquiry; it does not subscribe you to advertising or a marketing list. You may withdraw consent for future use by contacting us, subject to information we reasonably need to keep for an active request, agreement, legal obligation, or other permitted purpose.

Inquiry replies and Canada’s anti-spam law

We may reply by the contact method you request and send reasonable follow-up about the subject of your inquiry. We do not use the inquiry checkbox as consent to unrelated promotional messages. If we later offer optional commercial electronic messages, we will use a separate opt-in or another lawful consent basis and will identify the sender and provide a working unsubscribe method as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (“CASL”).

When information is shared

We do not sell or rent personal information. Access is limited to Lochside Lane personnel who need it and to service providers supporting the website. Netlify provides hosting, Netlify Forms, serverless Functions, Netlify Blobs content and revision storage, and administrator identity services. Netlify Forms receives inquiry submissions and can send the farm an email notification. Netlify Blobs stores horse and event content, media references, and revision history; it is not used as a second store for routine customer inquiry submissions. We may also share information with professional advisers, insurers, or public authorities when reasonably necessary or required by law.

Service providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information processed in another country may be subject to that country’s laws and lawful access by its courts, law-enforcement, or national-security authorities. We remain responsible for using service providers in a manner consistent with applicable privacy obligations.

External websites and media

Links to Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other websites take you to services we do not control. Those services have their own privacy practices. YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player is loaded only when you press play, at which point YouTube may receive technical information about your visit.

How long we keep information

Routine inquiry submissions are normally deleted or anonymized within 24 months after the last meaningful contact. We may retain information longer when it relates to an ongoing service, transaction, insurance matter, dispute, accounting requirement, or legal obligation. If information was used to make a decision that directly affects you, BC PIPA generally requires it to be kept for at least one year after the decision so you have a reasonable opportunity to obtain access. Security logs and administrator records are retained according to operational and security needs.

Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including limited account access and secure hosting controls. No online transmission or storage system is completely risk-free, so please use the inquiry form only for the ordinary contact information it requests.

Access, correction, deletion, and complaints

Subject to limited exceptions under applicable law, you may ask to access your personal information, learn how it has been used or disclosed, or request a correction. You may also ask us to delete or anonymize information we no longer need. Deletion is not absolute where retention is reasonably required for an active matter, a legal or business purpose, or to preserve information that is subject to an access request. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Send a specific written request to Lochsidelane@gmail.com. For a BC PIPA access request, we will normally respond within 30 days, subject to lawful extensions and exceptions. If you remain concerned after contacting us, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or, where PIPEDA applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children and young riders

The website is intended for adults. A parent or legal guardian should make inquiries for a child and should avoid sending unnecessary information about a minor. Participation by a minor may require a separate parent- or guardian-signed form.
